Es sind zugegeben nicht viele Informationen und eigentlich sind diese auch logisch, doch sicher für den einen oder anderen Apple-Fan interessant, der es nicht mehr bis nächste Woche aushalten kann. Die amerikanische Seite BGR hat von einer Kontaktperson ein paar Informationen zum neuen iPhone OS 4.0 bekommen, welches nicht nur “eine Möglichkeit besitzt mehrere Anwendungen im Hintergrund laufen zu lassen”, kurz Multitasking, sondern auch einige optische Änderungen vorzuweisen hat (Homescreen?). Außerdem soll es neue Synchronisationsmöglichkeiten für den Kalender und die Kontakte geben und Firmware 4.0 wird nur für Besitzer eines iPhone 3G(S) zur Verfügung stehen, das gleiche gilt wohl auch für den iPod Touch, nur die beiden letzten Generationen werden unterstützt. Interessant ist auch, dass das OS des Apple Tablet, laut BGR iTablet und nicht wie oft vermutet iSlate, mit dem des iPhone sehr ähnlich sei, das würde Sinn machen, da es zahlreiche Applikationen AppStore gibt, die man schnell an eine neue Auflösung anpassen kann und so ein ordentliches Repertoire zum Marktstart hat.

Bei einigen Seiten ging heute außerdem das Gerücht rum, dass das iTablet vorerst nur mit Vertrag angeboten wird und wie beim ersten iPhone nur in den USA erhältlich ist, hoffentlich handelt es sich dabei nur um ein Gerücht! Hier gibt es noch mal die Informationen im Überblick:

• There will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide. (Would make sense for that as the rumored OS for the iTablet is close if not the same as the iPhone)
• “A few new ways” to run applications in the background — multitasking.
• Many graphical and UI changes to make navigating through the OS easier and more efficient. We haven’t had this broken down, but we can only hope for improved notifications, a refreshed homescreen, etc.
• The update will supposedly be available for only the iPhone 3G and 3GS, but will “put them ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers” more than any other phone to date. Everyone is “really excited.”
• The last piece of information is the most vague, but apparently there will be some brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications.
